During World War Two Newark, and the villages that surround the town, played host to thousands of Allied airmen. Many of these men did not survive the war and their stories deserve to be told today.
Since 2012 Battlefields by Bike (BbyB) has been leading cycling tours through Belgium, France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands and, in 2021, we’ve just added Nottinghamshire to our list of exotic destinations!
So this summer, why not come and join us on one of our ‘Bomber Command themed’ guided tours of Newark and its environs?

When is it?

Each one of our Saturday tours starts and finishes at the Caffe Velo Verde in Screveton (NG13 8JL) and will follow a rolling programme starting 5 June.

What is it?

Our shortest tour is 15 miles, our longest 40 miles; so, with stops, we will be on the road for between 2 and 4 hours (we always travel at the speed of the group as a whole).
Each tour will be led by a knowledgeable guide accredited by the International Guild of Battlefield Guides.
Each tour will set off at 0930hrs. So time to grab something to eat before we leave (the Caffe opens at 0900hrs) and we will definitely be back before the kitchen closes! These tours are now FREE – yes FREE* (*Okay, not quite free; we will be asking for a charitable donation to Help for Heroes). And we will also offer on demand tours – starting and finishing ANYWHERE in the Newark area – for those that can’t make a Saturday morning (no group too small).
